At our core, we’re about great cheese – championing those who make it, supporting those who serve and sell it, and delighting those who eat it.
For more than ten years, The Bloomy Rind has sourced a unique lineup of handcrafted, sustainably produced cheeses and charcuterie for Nashville. We started as a farmers’ market stand, then a retail counter inside Porter Road Butcher, and most recently focused on wholesale to chefs and specialty stores. (And of course *most* recently, circling back to our retail roots a bit with cheese boxes – mainly to try to financially survive the pandemic, but also because it’s fun to pick out cheese for folks who love it!)
In case you’re curious, our company name comes from the category of cheeses with soft, white rinds, like you see on brie or camembert. They’re called bloomy rinds because the molds bloom as they form on the surface of the cheese as it ages. They look like little fluff balls until it gets patted down and eventually fill in enough to form the rind. This type of rind not only protects the interior of the cheese but also helps it ripen and develop the flavors and gooey textures that we love in this style.
If you’re a chef or retailer interested in sourcing cheese and charcuterie through The Bloomy Rind, we’d love to chat.
